You will arrive at Cochin airport, where you will be met and transferred Munnar. Munnar, a picturesque hill station, known for its tea plantation which adorns most of the area with its greenish-carpet like leaves, and also the winding roads through the hills, misty mountains and clean refreshing atmosphere. The name Munnar is derived three rivers – Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kudala that confluence in Munnar town. The stunning landscapes, comfortable weather, and the fragrance of tea leaves make Munnar one of the most desirable destinations in South India. Indeed these must be the purpose why the British always retreated to Munnar when the heat and humidity was on its peak in other parts of Kerala, as Munnar is located near the Anaimudi Peak, the highest peak in the Western Ghats. Also home to Munnar is an exotic plant called Neelakurunji that flowers just once in a 12-year period and the endangered mountain goats, known as the Nilgiri Thars. After breakfast proceed to explore Munnar, which includes visit to Mattupetty Dam, Kundale Lake, and Echo point. You will also visit the Eravikulam National park, located on a elevated mountainous plateau with spectacular views, were the rarest species of mountain goat, ‘Nilgiri Thars’, can be spotted. Later visit, Tea Museum which has been built in the Nallathanni estate of Tata Tea. Its collection of souvenirs and artifacts will remind you of the era when the tea industry had just started to make its presence felt in Munnar in 1880s. Glance the museum for its array of curios, pictures and machineries, each portraying significant events that contributed to a thriving tea industry. Munnar is a complete hill station covered in greenery, under misty scent of tealeaves all around, with clean fresh air and the with pleasing cool weather all the year round. After breakfast, drive through the Western Ghats to Thekkady – a beautiful location with tea gardens, rubber estates, and coffee and pepper plantations located high in the Cardamom hills. Thekkady(Periyar) is home to the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, a dense evergreen forests which is famous for elephants, bison, sambar, wild boar, langur and tigers. The Periyar Lake was formed by the building of the Mullaperiyar dam and the whole park covers 777 sq. kms – of which 260 sq. km is still thick evergreen forest. Periyar is also famous for its fragrant spice plantations. Check in a hotel upon arrival. Afternoon, get ready to enjoy a boat ride on the Periyar Lake. With some good luck you might catch a glimpse of wild elephants, sambhars and wild boars on the shores of the lake. You might also have a chance to catch sight of the flash of a blue winged parakeet, kingfishers, thrushes, fly catchers and the Nilgiri wood pigeon. Later visit a spice plantation tour, where you could see cardamom, pepper, rubber, vanilla, coffee and tea. In Thekkady the most commonly grown spice is pepper however we will also show you cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger, turmeric and curry leaves, growing in their natural habitat. After breakfast, drive to Kumarakom, which is a serene haven, which takes you to the world of tranquility. spread across a vast landscaped leisure land with abundant water bodies, which offers you many reasons to indulge in the numerous colors of nature. Kumarakom is a beautiful emerald peninsula looking into the ever- vivacious Vembanad Lake. It will take you into the heart of the scenic lake where you will come across plenty of traditional country barges, boats, and canoes. The fresh water of the lake runs into the mainland making a labyrinth of lagoons, brooks, canals, and waterways. This backwater is a haven for countless varieties of species of both fauna and flora. Breakfast at hotel, check out and drive to Alleppey where around 12.30 PM, you will board a Kettuvallam (houseboat) and proceed for a memorable overnight cruise, through the fascinating unique backwaters of Kerala. You will have a private houseboat which cruises till sunset, and then it anchors for the night. Your boat has a private balcony with comfortable chairs. The rooms are well well-appointed with ensuite bathroom and air conditioning which functions during sleeping hours. Thiruvananthapuram has interesting places to see like, the Napier Museum , a beautiful building build by English architect Chrisholm combining English-Saxon-Travancore architectural styles carvings.(Open 10AM-5PM, closed on Mondays and before noon Wednesday.), the Sri Chitra Art Gallery (Open 10AM-5PM, closed on Mondays and before noon Wednesday.) - displays a rare collection of mainly Indian paintings, the Padmanabhaswamy Temple (from outside only) – this temple is an architectural wonder and the icon around which the the city is built, and Horse palace - unique palace designed by Maharaja Swathi Thirunal famous for its horse shaped windows and décor, has some good collections of antiques. Later, proceed to Kovalam, the world famous beach destination of kerala. With three adjacent crescent beaches, Kovalam has been a favorite haunt of tourists, especially Europeans, since the 1930s. A massive rocky promontory on the beach has created a beautiful bay of calm waters ideal for sea bathing. The leisure options at this beach are plenty and diverse - sunbathing, swimming, herbal body toning massages, special cultural programmes, Catamaran cruising etc. The tropical sun acts so fast that one can see the faint blush of coppery tan on the skin in a matter of minutes. After breakfast, proceed for a day excursion of Kanyakumari & Sucheendram temple. Just off the Nagerkoil-Kanyakumari highway lies an architectural treasure, Padmanabhapuram Palace made entirely of wood. A Kerala architectural masterpiece with exquisite murals, granite sculptures and wood carvings. Continue your journey towards Kanyakumari. Legends, tradition, culture and religion blend to form a brilliant potpourri that is Kanyakumari. It is India’s southernmost tip where the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea join the Indian Ocean. Sprawled out on the shore of this great ‘Triveni sangam’ is the Kanyakumari town home to an array of beautiful temples, most importantly the iconic Kumari Amman temple, a colorful beach bazaar and the Vivekananda Rock Memorial standing sentinel over the sea. The memorial is built in honor of Swami Vivekananda who swam in this rough sea to the rock and meditated for days. The town gradually came up around the famous shore temple dedicated to the virgin goddess. Enjoy the beautiful sunset, before returning to Kovalam. Overnight at Hotel/ Resort.
